Brotherhood ‘F’ Complete Double with Knockout Cup Victory
Division Four champions Brotherhood ‘F’ capped off a remarkable season by securing the double, adding the Lennons Group Two Team Knockout title to their league triumph after a hard-fought win over Doe Lea MW ‘A’ in the final.
Going into the match, Doe Lea faced an uphill battle — not only were they up against the dominant Division Four winners, but they also had to overturn a 48-point handicap. Despite the challenge, the Division Three side made a promising start.
Captain Barry Patilla edged out Keith Chaplin in the opening frame, giving Doe Lea early momentum. Vinny Canning then chipped further into the handicap with a 12-point win over Mark Bower, raising hopes.
However, Brotherhood’s Michael Elliott — the top-ranked player in Division Four — soon swung the tide. A composed performance featuring a break of 32 reasserted Brotherhood’s control. That momentum carried into the fourth frame, as Shane Sykes confidently overcame Robert Wragsdale, who was unable to replicate the form that had served him well earlier in the campaign.
By the time the final frame arrived, Doe Lea’s Cameron Lunn faced a daunting points deficit against Darren Perry. Lunn attacked the challenge with energy and determination, but Perry held his nerve to see Brotherhood over the line and clinch the title.
